Banyan veil

Fuoco

The banyan lowers its roots through open air.
reaching for a ground it has not yet touched.

We gather them before they arrive.
Dried, then woven with threads of real copper,
knotted by hand after the loom has done its work,
Each knot placing a pattern no machine could plan.

Root and metal, held together.
Embers that never cool.
A wall still on its way to the earth.
